Macknade State School (est. 1893) is located within a cane farming area approximately 15 km from the township of Ingham. The majority of students reside in the local area with a small number travelling from Halifax, Lucinda and Ingham. Most students are drawn from within a radius of 5 or 6 kilometres. Approximately 58% of parents have employment links to the sugar industry either in a farming capacity or through the nearby CSR owned Macknade Sugar Mill.
